Sylvie: I'll keep musing with the turtle idea.
Richard Pinhas went to see turtles after Deleuze
wrote Immanence : Une Vie, and Deleuze died three
monthes later he wrote it. Look at his site for the
comments on Deleuze's death. Do you know that Deleuze
defenestrated in November 1995.How can one, and a
philsopher, actually kill himself, after giving his
wife Fanny Deleuze, his children and his friends (
Richard Pinhas was one of his friends )such a limpid,
enlightened little text of pure philosophical luminous
matter? As much as puzzling and horrible an incorporal
event his death might become for his personnal
readers, it stroke me in various times as signifying
something to the same readers which has a size as big
as was his capacity of human being, of Deleuze the
turtle to heal our "turtle" heart. We have may-be all
indeed have become "turtles" like Richard and Fanny
since Deleuze killed himself by destroying his
philosophy. Our duty on Earth has changed as it is now
time to come back to life thanks to his books: we need
to question dialogue and turtles to become his true
animals (the insects, not the dogs and the cats) as
Claire did also when he disappeared from her Human
Emotions. He died in atroceous sufferings also, but
unlike Christ did not resurfaced to his disciples in
human disguise. He took the mask of those who with
him became capable to learn how to be readers, or
turtles, like his animals, but not "them", different
and not identical (insects but not dead bugs like fake
non-sensical artists). That's why Richard Pinhas
insisted deeply onto the possibility Human Beings have
to produce signs, to re-inject meanings in the absence
of Emotions on seeing turtles in zoological gardens
instead than going fast, because after he died Turtles
went faster tha Achil. He later constructed
webdeleuze.fr (about Deleuze's Vincennes courses which
were taking place there every Thuesday) and Zeldon,
Pinhas own rock band, produced a song about slow
turtles becoming boulimic of Gilles's ideas.
