How does one know when a 'revolutionary' medium has run itscourse?

when the subject group in question, the community of human or cells or
atoms, suddenly feel its ripe for starting
discussing other things.

when vital question as: do we need to be creative ? becomes more and
more urgent in topic of discussion.

I think its also what made someone like Deleuze talk about pedagogy of
the concept.
